The power of Ayurveda

Slow down on vacation

The Ayurveda offers in our Ayurveda Hotel are particularly suitable to slow down the day, let the hectic fly away and find peace and relaxation again.

A stressful, hectic daily routine usually leads to an increase in Vata. In turn, the gentle and relaxing oil massages, such as the Abhyanga, the head massage Shiroabhyanga or the Ayurvedic forehead shower Shirodhara, help to reduce Vata and promote relaxation. Therefore, just these massages are ideal to achieve a slowdown that will make you relax and recover.

You can book the following authentic Ayurveda treatments during your stay in our Ayurveda Hotel. If you are still undecided which of these Ayurvedic treatments suits you, our Ayurvedic therapists will be happy to advise you on site.

Ancient Indian tradition

The meaning of Ayurveda

Ayurveda – a common word with Asian origins, which is nowadays used as a synonym for a variety of pleasant wellness treatments. However, it is much more than that. Ayurveda is one of the oldest traditional sciences, if not the oldest at all. It is a health practice that, like yoga, has its origins in the region where India and Sri Lanka are now located.

The origin of Ayurveda can be traced back several 1,000 years. Translated, Ayurveda means something like: “the knowledge of life”. Originally, it was assumed that people knew about their health and disease-causing factors and thus did not need written-down information to maintain their health. People all became very old.

However, this knowledge was lost over time. Gods brought back this knowledge to mankind and it was written down in the Vedic scriptures, which form the basis of Ayurveda. We at the Ayurveda-Hotel Ödhof take this Ayurveda knowledge very seriously and try to provide our guests with as authentic Ayurveda as possible.

Body & soul in harmony

Stay healthy with Ayurveda

The effect of Ayurveda

Ayurveda describes a healing art that causes the harmony of body and mind and should lead in a gentle way to a successful, fulfilled and healthy life.

  • Improves metabolic functions
  • Cleans the organism
  • Stimulates the immune system
  • Provides holistic recovery

Ayurveda is based on the idea that our life is guided by a certain energy. Stress factors, poor nutrition, and disease can negatively affect them. The goal of an Ayurvedic vacation should therefore be to bring the energies of Vata, Pita and Kapha back into their natural flow and thus restore the individual balance. This is done through special Ayurvedic massages, herbal mixtures, a special diet and a changed lifestyle. All these factors also include a comprehensive knowledge of the environment and our nature. Because according to Ayurveda theory, everything that happens to us and around us has an effect on our body.

So we should constantly try to maintain or restore the balance of elements which we have been given from birth. It is not a matter of achieving an equal measure of all the elements – fire, water, earth, air and space.

An Ayurveda vacation alone is by far not enough to achieve all this. Even an Ayurvedic cure that lasts for several weeks is hardly able to do this. Rather, it is important to create a break with the lifestyle you are used to. This is to show the Ayurveda guest the right way again.

The return to inner balance

In Ayurveda, the balance of the elements is not only disturbed by material, external influences. Factors such as stress, restlessness, worry or psychological events are also capable of disturbing the balance. Here, reference is made to the inner balance.

So it is not surprising that especially an Ayurveda vacation is suitable to gain distance from everyday life and to develop a new view on the everyday things of life, which is otherwise so often obstructed by recurring routines. In this way, the circle can be broken. With new energy and new strategies, it becomes easier to handle the rythm of life.

It is not easy to integrate the practice of Ayurveda into everyday life. That is why you should not overload yourself. Often a small change is enough to have a big effect.

For your health

Ayurveda as therapy

Especially in an Ayurveda hotel it is difficult to manage the balancing act between Ayurveda offers in the wellness area and an Ayurveda therapy. Since Ayurveda Hotel Ödhof also employs naturopaths, we can also offer you Ayurveda therapy. However, an extensive consultation and constitutional determination is necessary for this. These therapeutic measures include applications such as oil enemas, various oil showers, fasting – and nutritional therapy.

Ayurvedic cures

The holistic Ayurvedic cures aim to purify the body and balance the bio-energies. The first step in our Ayurveda Hotel is to determine the constitution in order to adjust the further procedure to the Dosha type determined in the process.

Fasting and Panchakarma cures

Both panchakarma and fasting in Ayurveda have the same goal, which is to promote human health. However, they take different approaches. The Panchakarma cure focuses mainly on physical detoxification and purification. Ayurvedic fasting is particularly dedicated to the digestive fires and has its focus on the mental, spiritual realm.
