What is the goal of alkaline fasting?

How do I eat on an alkaline fasting vacation?

As already mentioned, alkaline fasting is not a complete renunciation of food. This is why, strictly speaking, it no longer falls under fasting, but is often referred to as partial fasting or a strict diet. The foods you eat are exclusively alkaline-forming foods. The bottom line is: as many vital substances as possible, as few calories as necessary.

Start the day with a delicious alkaline muesli made from fresh fruit, dried fruit, nuts, seeds and kernels. At lunchtime and in the evening, vegetables and salad are available in many variations, e.g. as a delicious alkaline soup, creamy vegetable casserole, crunchy raw vegetable salad or hearty vegetable pan. What are the benefits of a week of alkaline fasting?

It is not uncommon for you to see and, above all, feel the first successes after just one week of alkaline fasting. Experience has shown that this includes: a visible tightening of the body silhouette, radiant eyes, positive effects on the complexion and general well-being. Of course, you also lose body weight during alkaline fasting. Up to 4 kg are possible in one week. Although losing weight is not the focus of alkaline fasting, it is of course a welcome side effect.

Daily activities such as yoga, Pilates, Nordic walking, hiking and, of course, relaxation and wellness are integral elements of alkaline fasting at our hotel. Massages or liver wraps to support the detoxification function of the liver and relaxation in a pleasant atmosphere are also included.

What comes after alkaline fasting?

After the alkaline fast, a so-called post-fasting cure is recommended in order to maintain the positive effect you have achieved during the fast for a long time, to slowly get used to certain products again and to deacidify in the long term. At least 1 week, preferably 2 weeks of a raw food, vegan or alkaline-rich diet have a very positive effect. All 3 suggested dietary methods have an alkalizing effect on the body, compensate for hyperacidity and are a good basis for a long-term healthy dietary change.

After alkaline fasting, it is often easy to put what you have learned into practice at home and eat an alkaline-rich diet in the long term. Even small changes have a big impact on health. What applications does an alkaline cure offer?

  • Alkaline fasting is particularly suitable for allergy sufferers. An alkaline fasting cure is completely free of foods with the greatest allergy potential, e.g. eggs, dairy products and cereals.

  • However, fructose intolerance or histamine intolerance are also no problem, as the alkaline cure can easily be adapted to individual needs. Experience has even shown that these intolerances are suddenly no longer a problem, as animal proteins, dairy products and cereals are no longer an additional burden.

  • Another positive aspect is, of course, that alkaline fasting does not focus on abstinence. Especially people who are reluctant to embark on a conventional fasting cure can experience an alkaline fasting cure without any problems and without any fasting crises.

  • Traditional therapeutic fasting according to Buchinger can be accompanied by slight acidosis, a so-called fasting acidosis. An alkaline diet with lots of fruit and vegetables during the build-up days will help here.

What does conventional medicine say?

The acid-base balance of the human organism is part of homeostasis. These are control processes in the body that ensure that certain control variables remain within the vital range. The pH value is the measure of the acid-base balance. In the blood this should be 7.35 – 7.45. In other compartments of the body, the pH value varies from very acidic, e.g. in the stomach, to alkaline, e.g. in the small intestine. This is necessary to positively influence and limit physiological reactions, but is also used for defense mechanisms in the body. The acid-base balance in the blood is regulated by buffer systems. These include the bicarbonate buffer, the protein buffer, the hemoglobin buffer and the phosphate buffer. The lungs and kidneys are crucial organs in connection with these buffer systems.
